A Way Of Making You Jump Out Of Your Skin

She has a way about her that River. Yes a way of making you jump out of your skin.

I'd had quiet a relaxing start to the day. It was very cold last night and when I woke up the whole of the back garden was covered in a sparkling frost. I quite like frost so decided to go out for a bit of a wander.

It was then that I spotted Sofia jumping off the sunshine shed. Well quick as you like I was off after her calling out her name but by the time I got to where she was she was gone.

I then spent the next twenty minutes having a bit of a search around but I didn't smell her anywhere and decided to return to the garden, not spotting River mucking around at the back. Not spotting her until that is she decided to jump on my back.

I don't know how she does it.

Compromise Often Brings Unexpected Bliss

Sometimes you've just got to give in and accept the inevitable and just look at that surprise at sharing, unexpected bliss. This is just perfect.

Possession Is Nine Tenths Of The Law

I am not happy.

Three times, THREE TIMES I jumped on the chair in the window when I saw for a second it was vacant and three times Daddy came back into the room picked me up kissed me on the top of my head and moved me to another seat before resuming his position back in it.

Now I know he might only just have gotten up to go and do something in the kitchen but possession I hear is nine tenths of the law and I had possession of it. He simply shouldn't have gotten off of it in the first place!

There he is now all comfy eating his dinner, happy, happy, happy. Well I'm not feeling too happy at the moment, I might just jump on him and make him spill the lot on the floor give River a treat.

OK maybe I won't do that it's a bit mean but if I don't get more time in this seat there is going to be trouble!

I Know She's There, I Know Because She's Sitting On My Head

I know she's there. I know because she is sitting on my head.

HUFF!

There's no way I'm letting on though because now I have control over the chair I'm not giving it up, not until I'm done anyway!

Cats and Dogs - Another Side

Yeah Too Right Too!

All week, all week River and Daddy have taken control of the best chair in the place and I was determined today things would be different, it is the weekend after all and I think I deserved a go.

So I waiting until Daddy popped to the bathroom and River got off to stretch her legs then jumped up and settled myself down right in the middle with a resolute look on my face.

Daddy was a pushover he came in saw me and moved his stuff. River did give a few thoughts to jumping up but I think the look on my face said don't you dare and she gave up.

Yeah too right too!

I Just Wish I Knew What Was Going On

Still no sign of Mogsie.

I've searched high and low, I even managed to track down Ginger Cat last night and he said he'd heard nothing from him, although he did say he'd heard on the grapevine that Flash had gone into hiding and I'm sure that must be to do with Mogsie.

Oh I just wish I knew what was going on.

A Treasure Hunt

Peace at last. Daddy has taken River out for some sort of a treasure hunt, I'm not sure what they are looking for but they both seemed very excited.

All this talk of treasure got me thinking about Flash and Foxy and the treasures they've been after and trying to bully out of me.

Mogsie said he was going to be taking care of it for me after Flash tried to break in and since then I've not seen hide nor hare of either of them, his absence is beginning to make me concerned I do hope he's OK.

I think I'll try and find Ginger Cat this evening see if he knows anything, I think I know where he lives, it's up the back somewhere. It's better than just sitting worrying. I know Mogsie can look after himself but still...

Easing The Guilt A Little

I might not be able to help River out with her food scrounging but I can give her lots of kisses to make her feel better. Yes that's easing the guilt a little.

Straight To Guiltsville

I'm doing my best to help our daddies out by not helping River up on the table to eat my leftovers but she's got an amazing way of looking at you with those big eyes of her that just sends you straight to guiltsville.

Some People Call Me Mad

Some people call me mad for enjoying sitting out in the rain and grey weather but I love it!

I Was Confused

I've just had a very unexpected visitor.

I had just manged to avoid River and her mad ten minutes running around like a whirling dervish when I heard a tiny little "Hello." coming from outside.

I jumped up to the window ledge to find Chameleon looking back up at me. He looked a little sad.

"Hello," I replied "How are you?"

To be honest I was a bit thrown, we've never really been what you could call friends.

"I'm OK." He paused like he had something else on his mind.
"Have you seen Mogsie or George?"

GEORGE!

I was so confused, George hasn't been with us for ages, a pang of loss bolted through my body.

"No, I've not seen Mogsie today." I wasn't sure what to say but continued anyway. "George passed away a while ago."

"Oh." Chameleon looked sad, "Of course he did, I must have forgotten. Thanks anyway."

And with that he nodded and walked away.

I do hope he's OK, it's a bit of a big thing to forget.

That's Better!

*Lick, lick, lick*

Oh what's that on my finger? Nice a bit of my crunchy.

*Lick, lick, lick*

That's better!

There'a nothing like an early morning bathe, especially when you come across unexpected treats!

Mrs Calm

I just can't believe it. There I was sat right in the living room

...and unbeknownst to me barely inches away from River's nose Sofia walks by and not a sound, nope not a peep from her.

Today you choose to be Mrs Calm? Really!

Return The Favour

I'm feeling very reflective sitting up here all on my own.

River is outside in the back garden with Daddy, he's trying to burn off some of her excess energy. You know what she did, of course you don't. I came in all relaxed after my walk around and lost in thought didn't pay any attention to what I was doing and there all of a sudden there she was jumping all over me. Fair made my heart jump into my mouth.

Now I'm reflecting on how I can surprise her without her knowing. It's hard to know what to do, I don't want to scare her but I do want to return the favour.

The Mind Boggles Sometimes

Well I'm not too sure why River's looking so pleased with herself.

I was laying down enjoying the quiet ambiance of the living room when all of a sudden she came bounding in, jumped over me and sat down looking to Daddy to give her praise for something or another. The mind boggles sometimes at just what goes on in her mind.

Maybe He's Done Just That!

I'm still keeping a very watchful eye out but it's been a few days since Flash has been around trying to break in so I'm relaxing my guard just a little.

Don't get me wrong when I say a little I mean I'm not in such an anxious state I am still keeping a very watchful eye out, going into the garden whenever River goes out there and watching out both the front and the back but it seems the immediate peril has subsided a bit.

I do hope that was the last of it, Mogsie said he was going to take care of it and maybe he's done just that!

Friday 11 November 2016

All Peaceful Now

Yeah it might look all peaceful now...

...but I can hear River's brain ticking over, a plan involving mayhem is being brewed. Oh well I might as well just enjoy the peace while I get it.

The Bastard!

Up and down, down and up the stairs I've been all day.

It all started first thing, I was on the table having some breakfast when I spotted Flash in the garden. Brazen he was walking up with a confident swagger straight towards the backdoor.

My back went up as I froze on the spot ready to jump on him if he entered and it really looked like it would.

Boldly headbutting the backdoor flap which thankfully Daddy had locked both ways last night and forgotten to open it first thing.

Thank goodness River was still upstairs, the noise would have got her running to see what happened and even from this side of the door I wouldn't want her anywhere near that bad-un!

"My treasures!" He yelled through the flap. "I told you I wanted MY TREASURES! I'll be back later, you can't think you can get away with this!"

The bastard! Who does he think he is?

Of course I've been on high alert, double thank goodness it's pouring down, no way would River be let out and very unlikely he'll be coming by as it's so wet, I don't mind the rain at all but I'm the exception rather than the rule when it comes to cats.

No sign of Mogsie either, I've been keeping an eye out for him too.

That's What Friends Are For

I've been keeping a close eye out the front in case Craig returned but so far nothing then all of a sudden I heard a voice coming from my right.

"Hey David."

I looked down and there Mogsie finally had come by.

"I'm so glad to see you."

He smiled back. "I hear from Craig that you've all been having some trouble over here."

I nodded, relief that Mogsie was here.

"Listen I know it may not feel like it right now but this is all going to be sorted very soon. I've been in contact with Ginger Cat, he's helping me out with this one."

More waves of relief danced up my back.

"And I understand he's also helping you out as well."

"I thought he's forgotten." A rush of excitement rushed back down my back.

"Ginger Cat never forgets, he's been working on..." Mogsie paused to clear his throat and smiled "you're little recruitment drive."

"Thank the universe, Greego has been stuck asleep for so long and I can't break the spell all on my own."

"That's what friends are for." Mogsie grinned, "And never forget David you have a lot of those around here!"

Chaos Had To Follow

It was a fairly peaceful morning. I say was because of course chaos had to follow.
I've been keeping a bit of a low profile since Flash's threats the other day. I have been going out but been keeping very alert.

As everyone had stopped for lunch I decided to keep a look out for Mogsie, I've still not seen him to ask for his help.

There I was when all of a sudden,

"David!"

I looked down and there was Craig on the front lawn, which really surprised me his usual domain is the back gardens.

"I've been wanting to catch you."

"Are you OK." I interrupted him,

"No, no we're not, that awful Flashy cat has been threatening us. He said unless we help him to get something from you he was going to run us all out of town."

"Oh no, that's terrible, I'm so sorry."

"It's not your fault." He darted his eyes left and right. "I can't be caught talking to you, we're all on high alert, of course we're not going to help him what on earth is it he wants?"

I was just about to answer when right behind me jumped River barking her head off. Craig of course ran off.

This is terrible Flash and his crew really need to be stopped. Oh Mogsie where are you?

A Manic Laugh Coming From His Mouth

Oh my goodness, I can hardly catch my breath.

I was just having a little meander through the garden when all of a sudden without any warning Flash jumped out on me. i had no idea he was there he must have crept in sometime earlier and was sitting waiting for someone to walk by.

"My treasures!" He hissed, "I've come for my treasures!" A manic laugh coming from his mouth, his smelly breath pungent in my face almost making my eyes water.

I spun and turned to face him, my breath already gone.

"Go away!" I shouted.

"No chance!" He laughed and took another step towards me. "You've had enough time, I want my treasures NOW!"

I took a swipe at him and hissed, my tail doubling in size before turning and flying through the luckily open cat flap.

River and both my daddies jumped up and ran towards the back door to see what had frightened me just in time to see Flash jumping over the fence. I thought all of that had died down, I guess not.

Oh where's Mogsie when you need him, Flash is surprisingly strong, I know now I need help.

I've Had Such A Fantastic Evening

I've had such a fantastic evening.

I've been up in the office watching all these amazing fireworks going off everywhere, such pretty colours and all sparkly.

I just came downstairs to see how River was doing, she's not enjoying them, I guess she's not going to be joining me then, she's in safe hands though.

You coming I think they're about to let some more off?

The Absolute Best Part Of The Night

That was a pretty lovely display all over the sky but it's all over with now and now time for us all to cuddle up with each other and get settled for the night and that's always the absolute best part of the night.

They Don't Bother Me In The Slightest

Poor River is so scared, the fireworks have started. They don't bother me in the slightest, I actually quite like the pretty colours they make.

I'm keeping an eye on her, if she gets too worried I'll do my est to help Daddy and distract her. Poor little girl.

They Paid Up

Well it just goes to prove using peoples words back on them works I heard Daddy and Puppynap talking, the insurance people finally paid up for River's treatment.

About time too!

Wednesday 2 November 2016

He Pins People With Their Own Words

Oh dear.

I've just been listening to Daddy on the phone and he's not happy.

I could tell something was up the way he took a deep breath before picking up the phone, it's never a good sign. I jumped up near him to get a better listen and to offer some support if he needed it which to be honest he doesn't when it comes to this sort of thing.

He was on the phone again to the pet insurance people about the claim they've made after River's recent conditions. I thought that it would have been sorted out by now it's been a long time, well over a month.

I heard him a few weeks ago telling them he felt he was being fobbed off and that it wasn't his fault that they had received a lot of claims lately and the same words were coming out of his mouth again.

I heard him multiple times correct them on the time they had on their system about the claim going in, again something I heard him do a few weeks back and the brilliant thing is Daddy has proof they received it earlier than they said they had.

He can be very persistent when he knows he's right, I think the saying is a dog with a bone. Things must be serious as he's talking about freedom of information access requests and with his history working for news organisations and legal proceedings he's in the know, he doesn't say anything like that unless he is sure, he picks his battles wisely.

Eventually they confirmed that the backlog had finally reached the date they say they passed the information through to their accessers department, a minor victory as from what I heard I don't think they realised what they had said until he confirmed it was the date they said they did. He pins people with their own words so they can't get out of it, annoying to those he does it too, smile providing to him.

Oh dear!
