Money On It

Oh my goodness,  I don't know what's come over River tonight she's gone mad chasing me all over the house, I've never seen her so energetic. Daddy says it must be her hormones being all over the place.

No matter what they say to her she's just laughing her head off, it's like she's possessed.

Still she's out of breath now, fingers crossed that's the madness over with now although something tells me not to put money on it.

Destiny

Yeahhhh George popped by and told me some very interesting news.

I've been waiting for him to come over so I could tell him about my progress going out into the back garden, as well as ask him if he knew this Ginger Cat and to tell him everything that he said.

In my excitement I forgot to tell him that 'd made it half way up the back garden this afternoon, twice, and dived straight in to tell him everything that Ginger Cat said.

He looked deep in thought as I told him about our conversation, he was listening very intently and when I was finished he spoke.

He said that Ginger Cat was an old friend of Catworld and that they'd fought on the same side before so he was someone who had proved his trust.

I asked him what he made of what Ginger Cat had said about Mogsie, him and Destiny, that part stumped him for a while then he nodded to himself.

"Maybe this is something of an explanation about the way that Mogsie has been with you, avoiding you." He then paused.

"The thing is David, something he said does bother me and now I'm all confused."

"What bit?" I stepped forward closer to the open window.

"Well I'm trying to help you, maybe I'm not supposed to?" George looked sad and blinked back an eye weep.

I was suddenly panicked in case George was no longer going to be my friend.

"NO! Don't say that!"

George must have seen the anxiety in my face. "Don't worry little one, I think the only thing to do is for me to go and visit Ginger Cat, I know where he lives. Yes that will do it, clear this all up once and for all."

With that he got up, smiled and started on his way down the road, he must be off there straight away, in the meantime I'm going to attempt an early evening walk in the garden, see what it's like out there when it's getting dark.

Well It's True What Was Said

Well no one can accuse me of not trying to get Nadia to have a little chat. After River ran out the back to bark at the man cutting his lawn I jumped down and said hello. Nothing. I tried nudging her, which only made her move her head into her shell even more, I even then tried licking her, that often works with River and I but again nothing.

Ages I was there chatting away, I heard Daddy say he's not ever heard me talk so much, little voice he sometimes calls me, but nothing.

Well it was true what was said Nadia doesn't talk much, or in this case say anything and in the end I decided to just give up for today, if she's been asleep for half the year maybe she's still just waking up. I won't be giving up though.

Still she makes a good foot rest.

What A Revelation!

I've never met a tortoise before, what a revelation they are!

They are just so different from us cats and dogs. True they can move fast like we can, proportionally to size I mean, but there's so many other differences. They eat things such as lettuce which to be honest just stuck to the back of my throat when I attempt to scoff a bit that fell to the floor once and they don't do or say much, in fact River said Nadia hardly ever speaks.

I'm going to make it my mission to engage her in conversation, I'm going to attempt it when we are alone, see if I can tease it out of her without the distractions of River getting herself involved which by the look of it isn't going to be too long she's spotted something going on out the back. Go on River go see what it is!

Lucky Thing

Much noise, so much noise in this place it's hard enough to sleep as it is without Daddy cutting the grass and now this!

I was trying to sleep under the sofa when all I could hear was River shouting and jumping around, I gave up attempting to snooze and came out to see what all the fuss was about.

What!

I couldn't believe what I was seeing, there on the floor in a bowl of water was this little shell thing and everyone was sitting around watching it attempting to swim.

This was all so new to me, who/what was this thing that was making everyone so excited? According to River, this is Nadia the tortoise and she lives here as well. Why on earth has no one told me about this before and where's she been hiding all this time?

River then told me that she goes to sleep in the garden for half the year. lucky thing! I circled her trying to get her scent but I guess the water must be masking it as all I could smell was dirt.

Daddy then took her out of the water and River ran straight to Nadia to give her a kiss.

But Nadia was on her toes before I could formally introduce myself. For such a small thing she's a fast mover.

I had to jump to catch up with her.

Then she decided she was going to hide under the sofa, then River told me it was one of her favourite sleeping places. WHAT! That's my favourite sleeping place. How on earth could no one have told me about any of this? I'm flabbergasted! Whatever next?

An Excellent Assistant

So much to tell and so much to find out, it's been a hectic day going nowhere fast.

After yesterdays visit by Ginger Cat I've been on tender hooks waiting for either George or Mogsie to come by. I know Mogsie is avoiding me but I'm not about to let that stop me asking a few questions and there's more than a thing or two I want to talk over with George too.

River's been an excellent assistant asking no questions I simply had to ask her to sit in the window and let me know when ANY cat comes by which she has dutifully done all day apart from hen Daddy took her for a walk this afternoon.

No sign of anyone but it has been a hot day and that may well have been keeping everyone inside. I just need to keep watching and waiting, someone is bound to come by today.

A Secret To Tell - Mogsie, George & Destiny

"Pst! PST!" I turned from my cleaning duties on the tale to see if the pstting was aimed at me.

"Pst! Up here." I tried to let my eyes follow the sound, dancing through the air but couldn't see anything.

"UP HERE!" A shout so loud my eyes darted and spotted a Ginger Cat sitting up the Oak Tree at the back of the garden.

"Oi little cat I've got a message for you but I've got to be quick, Chameleon,s around somewhere and this message is just for you."

The Ginger cat's head dropped an inch his eyelids closed a quarter and his head darted left, then right before he spoke;

"I've a secret to tell, a message to pass on."

He had me at pst but I was gripped.

"Listen, there's someone around here that trying to help you and another one that thinks he is but he isn't really and their could be catastrophic circumstances if you are prevented from fulfilling your destiny."

The heckled danced down my spine.

"What do you mean?"

Ginger cat repeated his check that no one was around.

"Look there's bigger things going on around here than I think you've been let into. I can't go into it all now but be careful how you interpret peoples actions and how you let that affect you. Look I've got to go now."

He nodded towards Squirrel Tree, Chameleon was coming out and begin a rapid walk along the back fence.

Ginger cat got prepared to move but looked in my direction. I wasn't moving I didn't want to attract Chameleons attention and lose this conversation with Ginger cat.

"Who? WHO ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?" I mouthed as loudly as I could without making any sound.

"Mogsie, George & Destiny!" With that he was off.

What could he mean? Then it suddenly struck me as I looked at the tree that Ginger Cat had been hiding in just seconds before.

Greego's words flew through my mind and my blood ran cold.

"The number 3, the number 3
A secret told by the great Oak Tree
The number 3, the number 3
An answer to come but not from me!"

I needed to get out there and get Greego's missing thing. If Greego really did have psychic powers then I was going to need his help and I needed some bargaining power.

Delayed

Oh no River's in the window...

...and George has just popped by for a chat. I really need to speak to him.

Thanks a lot River...

...you've frightened him away. Oh well I guess our chat will just have to be delayed!

Spoke Too Soon!

The girls gone, the coast is clear!

Spoke too soon!

Definitely spoke too soon, still there's room for both of us...

...but sometimes it's better just to stretch out on your own.

That's right River, you enjoy yourself over there.

Calling My Name

There! Just there! That cat just sat there at the end of the Peace Garden, up by The Swinging Heart of Love.

I noticed him as I was having an after breakfast clean on the table. Subtle and half hidden by the leaves of Squirrel Tree that black cat, Doublay I believe he's called, just sitting just staring.

I nodded to him to show him some recognition but no nod back, no smile no nothing for ages, just stare and then all of a sudden he opened his mouth and out it came.

"David-Shiro come join me."

I was shocked, we'd never been introduced and there he was just sitting there calling my name in a pretty scary way. I didn't know what to do so I jumped down and went to the back door flap and looked out.

"David-Shiro, come join me." He called again.

I tapped the flap to see if it was unlocked and it was. There was something hypnotic about the way he pronounced my name, something drawing me forwards and I pocked my head through without even thinking, my left paw followed my right up off the ground about to repeat the action...

...and then two little excitable paws on my back brought me back in the room, back to the present as River tried to get past me and out the flap first.

I looked at her and then back to where Doublay was sitting but he was gone and the moment felt real again.

What on earth was all that about?

And Then Action! - One Step Closer To Answers!

It was a very late night last night for everyone, up chatting till the early hours but I never let my Daddies erratic sleep patterns throw me off and I was up and prepared when one of my Daddies got up early and came downstairs.
I joined him so we could get some alone time together. He was intent on buzzing around in the kitchen, trying his hardest to make no sound where in reality it was all clash and bang so I decided to have a little look out the window, see if anyone was around.

There on the front lawn I spotted two birds going about their early morning business, collecting bits of leaf and things flying back and forth to their nest they must be building somewhere, occasionally digging for a worm brought to the surface by last nights rain, chatting away, gossipping, sharing information.

I sat there for ages just watching them, noticing what they were up to out in the world so carefree with a growing urge to jump out the window and join them. I've hardly ever made it out the back let alone the front but as River was still safely tucked up in bed Daddy had the windows wide open, he says he can't when she's up as she's a runner and would be out of them the second he turned his back.

They were deep in conversation and didn't notice me so I moved closer to hear them talk but their voices were small, smaller than mine and I was struggling no matter how close I put my head outside.

This was no good, if I wanted to properly hear what they were talking about I needed to get out there and the only thing holding me back, my courage.

I braced myself and then action, I put first one paw out and the the other, blood pumping through my veins like a formula one driver I gingerly stepped out onto the ledge just outside the window.

The exhilaration I felt to be making such a big and bold move almost overwhelmed me and forced me back inside but I was determined to go forward, I'd come this far and if I was ever to get to the wood to help Greego I needed to overcome my fear of the outside world and with Daddy not too far away I'm sure I would be OK so I carried on.
All the way from one of the front windows and back indoors through the other, quick as a flash but the point was I'd done it, I'd taken my first steps out the front and one step closer towards answers!

Fantasies

I don't know why I indulge River in her fantasies, this surely can't be right, just cause we can't see them!

Cats and Dogs - Another Side

Hansel & Gretel - Witch Hunters

I decided to stick close to River today as she's feeling a little under the weather, I think it's her lady times, something Daddy said I'd never have to worry about. I'm pleased about that, apparently I'm to have my own issues to deal with!
Then I heard a car draw up, my cue to exit left and I ran upstairs and settled myself down for an afternoon nap on the bed. Before I knew it the sun was going down and I'd slept for hours.

Coming downstairs I saw our visitor was Daddies cousin who had come to see us all. It seemed I was in the nick of time as the Daddies were putting on a film for us all to watch about these two people called Hansel & Gretel who were Witch Hunters.

Well as soon as I heard that I knew I was sticking around, this was to be perfect research for me on Witches, after George told me all about Purlean I've had a desire to learn more. There was no black cat featured and the Witches were hideous, got me thinking more about Purlean.

I'm going to make it my mission to find out more about our heritage, there must be more to the Purlean story than I know already, something in my catty powers is telling me it's going to be quite revealing.

No Effort

All day I've been waiting for George to pop over, he's been out in the sun but I'd not been able to get his attention and then finally I saw him out the hallway window. Only trouble was there's not a window in there that opens but as it's been a warm day I know Daddy has the living room windows open.
I went in there to speak to him and then I saw River.
I could guess what was about to happen, she'd already called him once and it made him jump, to much racket and he'd be off before I got the chance to speak to him so I had to act fast and jumped up on the stool behind her as loudly as I could. I had to get her attention away from him.

It worked! The only trouble was she decided it was time to give me a bathe. Oh well I may as well give in, I wouldn't get any peace unless I did.

She's very thorough, too thorough by the time she'd finished George had gone. Drat! Still at least I'm nice and clean with no effort from me.

I Wonder What The Weekend Will Bring?

It's such a lazy day today. I wonder what the weekend will bring? I overheard my Daddies talking and saying it's something called Easter but I wasn't really listening, so, so tired.

Daddy said there's going to be eggs for Easter. Great I love eggs, I hope I get some for tea today although I'm too tired to be bothered.

*Yawn*

Such a lazy day.

Tricked

I've been tricked by Daddy and I'm not that impressed.

He always calls me to come and give him a cuddle when he comes down in the morning. Sometimes I fancy it and sometimes I don't and just go about my business.

For some reason he was being extra attentive this morning and calling my name out again and again. My catty powers were telling me to stay where I was but I ignored them much to my chagrin, the lure of extra Dreamies was too much and just as I was munching away suddenly I felt two gentle hands lift me up and put me in this box thing again.

Oh no I remembered what happened last time, I went to see the Doctor and today was no exception. I don't mind it too much, it's the journey in the car I'm not too fond about, the Doctor said I probably got car sick as she pinched my neck and put another injection of stuff in me as Daddy looked at me in the eye and said not to worry everything was going to be OK.

It was and he's forewarned me, in about a month I'm coming back for the last time in a long time, just a little operation he said, nothing but a small snip. Um not sure I'm liking the thought of an operation no matter how small he says it will be, he comes calling like that again shaking the Dreamies packet and I'm on my toes!

To Find Missing Time

Something very strange has happened.

My Daddy who goes out most days went out today even though it was Sunday, off to work he said. Work on a Sunday? River and my other Daddy spent their time getting ready, I waited for them outside of the bathroom, I was feeling very hungry and couldn't wait until we all came downstairs for breakfast, crunchies and scrambled egg.

Then Daddy said something very strange, he said the day had lost an hour over night and he needed to get on, he had lots to do.

I looked at him to see if he was pulling my leg but no his face said he was being very serious indeed. What could he mean, the day had lost an hour?

Maybe this has got something to do with the day turning to night? I'm very confused by his words and jumped up on the window ledge to see if anyone was around so I could ask them if they'd heard about this mystery as well. I waited there for ages but no one was around, the rain was coming down rather heavily and I guess everyone's keeping inside in the dry and warm but so I decided I was just going to sit here and try to find the missing time!

You Don't Need To Set An Alarm Clock

It's been a funny few days and all rather tiring so I was glad to see that today was going to be a lazy day where we could all just chill and gather our thoughts waiting for Daddy to come home from his big work adventure.
One thing I've learnt here you don't need to set an alarm clock if you are waiting for something to happen, River seems to have this inbuilt system as astute as a cats and when she's up, well everyone's up, her barking alerted me that Daddy was home.
Ah bless her, she so needs her touches and strokes, I do but when I'm ready, another advantage of being a cat, we're very independent creatures. She was so happy to see him, if she was a cat she would have been purring.
But she's a dog and so frenzied activity apparently involving me was the route she chose to take to celebrate Daddies return!
