Gong Xi Fa Ca!

Gong Xi Fa Ca!

That means I wish you Prosperity and yes it's New Years Eve in China. Happy New Years Eve China!

They've caught up we had our New Years Eve ages ago but China has it at a different time to us. and each time it can be on a different date.

The year that starts tomorrow, daddy says, is the Year of the Snake. Wow I've never lived through a year of the snake before, it happened just before I was born.

I wonder what it means and what it will bring? I hope not snakes that's a step too far but with the daddies nothing would surprise me. I've heard Stay talking about wanting a lizard or something but Disappears has put his foot down.

Daddy says that the China people have 12 different type years and each one means something different. They are; Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, Boar, Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon and then Snake.

No Year of the Cat I see! Well we'll have to see what we can do about that. We recently lobbied and was successful in getting our own monopoly piece. The Dogs have had one for ages, talk about inequality.

Both of the daddies are Monkey's. Yes don't I know it!

I was born in the Year of the Horse, Nadia was born in the last Year of the Snake and River and Alo were born in the Year of the Dragon.

Daddy told me the story of the 12 animals in the China calendar.

One day a long time ago there was a great race across a River. All the animals were involved and their listing in order was to how they finished. The Snake couldn't swim and so took a ride on the horse and just at the last minute jumped off and scared the horse and snatched his place.

I can see now why snakes are slithery creatures to be watched closely.
